In 2005 I left teaching to run my own business.  I had plans of building up a huge empire with locations all around the country with several employees.  However after four years of  juggling stock control, suppliers, customers, a greedy landlord and managing employees I decided that a traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ business was not for me.  I did not want to continue having money tied up in products which were perishable and the headache of moving huge volumes just to break even.

At the time I also became involved with a MLM Network Marketing business.  Being a bit green I signed up with out fully assessing the compensation plan.  I could see that people were making money but the only successful ones were doing it full time and I did not want that.  Also it involved selling products that were relatively low in value and you had to have a personal volume of £75 a month (actually nearer £100 after VAT and delivery charges) to qualify for any earnings and that would only earn you a few quid.  The business had been established for about 30 years which meant that anyone joining now had a slimmer chance of earning a life-changing income.  I looked at another opportunity in early 2009 with a better compensation plan – a great business but not the right one for me.

In the summer of 2009 several things happened that made me realise I couldn’t do everything and have all the time I wanted for my family.  This also affected my business and it made me reassess what I wanted out of life.  I even applied for a job – fortunately for me they mislaid my application form so I had to get creative!  Earlier in the year I had been teaching myself about internet marketing and decided that this was the way forward because I could work from home and be around when my children got home from school and in the school holidays.  Around the time I was applying for the job I found a business with a product that I felt completely comfortable with.  I knew I could use my knowledge about internet marketing to bring people into the business and that their would be no cold calling or dragging people along to hotel meetings.   It is great now to be in a position to be able to live the life the way I want to by helping people achieve success.
